Food Allergies

To protect our students with nut (peanuts, walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, pistachio, almond, etc.)  allergies, some of our classrooms are "allergy aware".  Although we can not guarantee the classroom will be nut-free, we do everything we can to discourage nut containing products being brought into the classroom. Allergic reactions can be very serious.  To avoid the possibility of accidental ingestion, if your child’s classroom is "allergy aware", please do not send in snacks or treats that contain any kind of nuts.  This restriction does not apply to lunch.

Please monitor food that you bring into the classroom for birthday treats, class parties, projects or special events. Please read ingredient labels carefully.  Items are prohibited even if the label states “may contain traces of nuts”.  Bakery items that don’t list ingredients can not be monitored, therefore they are discouraged.  Make sure you send in the food label listing the ingredients for all food brought into the classroom to be shared, including home baked items.  We have students with allergies to dairy, egg, soy, fruits, etc., so the list of ingredients is essential.

Our goal is to provide a safe learning environment and to allow all students to participate fully in classroom activities.  Thank you for your cooperation and if you have any questions, please call me.
